We keep this simple. We collect only what we need to run your audit and communicate with you. We don't sell your data. We don't share it with anyone outside of what's described below.
Who We Are
Conscious Clicks is a New Zealand-based consultancy that audits how accommodation properties appear within AI recommendation engines. We operate the website at consciousclicks.co and related subdomains.
For the purposes of New Zealand's Privacy Act 2020, Conscious Clicks is the agency responsible for the personal information collected through our website and services.
What Information We Collect
Information you give us directly
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your phone number
- The name of your lodge or accommodation property
- Any additional context you share in the enquiry form or during the intake call
Information collected automatically
- Browser type and version
- Device type (desktop, mobile, tablet)
- General geographic location (country or region, derived from IP address)
- Pages visited and time spent on the site
- Referral source (how you found us)
Information we observe publicly
As part of delivering your audit, we access publicly available information about your property: your website, OTA listings, Google Business Profile, and public reviews. This is not personal information — it's your property's public presence — but we treat it with care regardless.
How We Collect It
- Enquiry form: When you fill out the contact form on our website
- Email or phone: If you reach out to us directly
- Intake call: Notes taken during our 15-minute onboarding conversation
- Automatically: Via cookies and analytics tools when you visit our website
We do not collect information from social media profiles, third-party data brokers, or any source other than those listed above.
Why We Collect It
- To deliver your audit: Your name, property name, and context from the intake call are used to produce a relevant, accurate report.
- To communicate with you: Your email and phone number allow us to schedule calls, deliver your report, and follow up if needed.
- To process payment: Payment is handled through our invoicing provider. We do not store card details ourselves.
- To improve our services: Anonymised insights from completed engagements help us refine our methodology.
- To understand our website audience: Analytics help us understand which parts of the site are useful and how people find us.
How We Use Your Information
- We will never use your email to send unsolicited marketing without your consent.
- We may send you a follow-up email after your audit is delivered to check in on your progress. You can opt out at any time by replying to say so.
- We do not use your information to build profiles for advertising purposes.
- We do not use automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or significant effects on you.
Sharing & Disclosure
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share it in the following limited circumstances:
Service providers
We use a small number of tools to run our business — email, invoicing, scheduling, and analytics. These providers may process your data on our behalf and are contractually required to handle it securely and not use it for their own purposes.
Legal requirements
We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Conscious Clicks, our clients, or others.
Business transfer
If Conscious Clicks is sold or merged with another entity, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We would notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
How Long We Keep It
- Client records (name, email, audit report, call notes) are retained for up to 3 years after the engagement.
- Payment records are retained for 7 years to comply with New Zealand tax and accounting obligations.
- Website analytics data is retained in accordance with the terms of our analytics provider, typically 26 months.
- Enquiry form submissions that did not result in a booking are deleted after 12 months.
Your Rights
Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct any information that is inaccurate or out of date
- Request deletion of your information, subject to our legal retention obligations
- Withdraw consent for any processing based on consent (e.g. marketing follow-ups)
- Make a complaint to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner if you believe we have handled your information improperly
We will respond to requests within 20 working days, as required by the Privacy Act. The Office of the Privacy Commissioner can be reached at privacy.org.nz.
Third-Party Services
- Website hosting: Webflow — hosts and serves this website.
- Analytics: We use analytics tools to understand site traffic. See our Cookies Policy for detail.
- Email: Emails sent to and from us pass through our email provider's servers.
- Scheduling: If you book a call via a scheduling link, that tool will collect your name, email, and preferred time.

Security
We take reasonable precautions to protect your personal information, including using reputable tools, limiting access to client data, and not storing sensitive information such as payment card details ourselves.
No method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure. If you believe your information has been compromised in connection with our services, please contact us immediately.
